August 2014 Reviews
Laurence Patrick is brilliant as the debonair Hannay and is perfectly matched by Claire Hovey who wins, not only the heart of Hannay, but of the whole audience. Two of the hardest working actors you’ll ever see are Thomas Hockey and Ricky Valentine as between them they play eighty different characters switching effortlessly and hilariously from gormless heavies to grumpy crofters to little old ladies to name a few.
One memory which will linger long in the memory, particularly with the children, is the fighter plane chase through the audience – excellently done. Skilfully directed by Doctor Who producer Nikki Wilson and staged in the beautiful Manorbier Castle, the audience, who arrived with their picnics and dressed for all weathers, were enchanted by the wonderful production and showed their appreciation by giving rapturous applause.
